Ottawa County United Way Launches "Everyday Hero Campaign"

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.  In Ottawa County, we also know that … when the going gets tough, the tough give generously.  That’s what we are hoping happens now.  Because it’s crunch time … for the campaign, and for our community.  Last fall we set a very ambitious goal of $2.3 million for this year’s campaign.  That’s $400,000 more than last year’s goal, and almost 12 percent more than  the $2,031,496 we raised last year.

Elzinga & Volkers has been gaining momentum and over the past year, they have grown their project backlog by over 250%.  This phenomenal increase is a result of their investment in increased skill and safety training, as well as attending and presenting at conferences pertinent to their major client markets.  The company has taken a marketing approach that affords them the opportunity to be sought after as experts instead of being viewed as a commodity.

 
Elzinga & Volkers Expands Their Field Management with the

Elzinga & Volkers has hired Robert Richards as a Field Manager.  Robert has worked in the construction industry for over 15 years with primary experience in field supervision.  He is a seasoned Field Manager who effectively manages many employees and projects at one time, ensuring the highest quality.  Robert is responsible for scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control and production of all phases of construction.  His primary focus is in maintaining construction schedules, identifying and solving problems along with developing and maintaining a positive relationship with clients, contractors, and suppliers.  Rob comes to Elzinga & Volkers from Roncelli Inc.


 

 
8 Week Institute for Healing Racism Set to Begin February 28th

Through facilitated dialogues and activities, individuals are immersed in a cognitive and affective program of learning, sharing, and processing within a multi-cultural group. Participants examine the inheritance of our history, institutionalized racism, contemporary bias, and ways to be an ally in healing racial divides. This model has been proven to establish profound insights and valuable relationships while providing a support network for continued understanding and resources. The cost is $100 per participant. Financial hardship scholarships are available upon request; please call (616) 846-9074.  The program will be held on Tuesdays, Feb 28 – April 24, 3:00-5:00pm at the GVSU Meijer Campus, 515 S Waverly, Holland.
